Here goes my first story! Hope you enjoy it!

JUST DO IT!

Myra woke up with a start as she heard the cuckoo clock in her room coo four times. It was four in the morning. She had dozed off with her head rested on the table. Dazed, she ran her fingers through her hair and looked around her. Her table was a mess, with paperwork strewn all over, among which was her laptop and her coffee mug.

It was all in preparation of the presentation that she had to give that morning in office. Myra had no idea how long she had slept off, but knew for sure that her work, was far from complete and she could not afford any more sleep. She made herself some more coffee and started off again.
The presentation had been a complete disaster.

Gaurav came out of the meeting room both shocked and fuming with anger. As was his habit whenever he was angry, he kept pressing the tip of his click pen repeatedly.

“Sir...” Gaurav turned around to see two of his employees standing with their heads bowed.

“Both of you are fired. Don’t even dare to show me your faces again.”, bellowed Gaurav. His company had just faced a tremendous loss. They had lost a very important deal. Gaurav sat down with his head buried in his hands. His anger was now greatly overpowered by shock. Suddenly he was startled by a tap on his shoulder. He looked up to see the owner of the company, with whom they had just lost the deal, standing there. She handed him some papers along with an expensive pen. It had a name engraved on it.

It read… ‘Myra’.

Myra returned to her cabin. Her mind drifted into a two-year-old memory of a presentation that she had given for the company that she worked for then.

Myra had walked into the meeting room with her presentation, which had just one last project analysis remaining. Her boss was not in the least impressed after the presentation was over.

“What is all this Myra? How did you dare to walk in with your work incomplete?”

“Sir, I was given only a day’s time to get this presentation done and I did all that I could have.”

“I don’t care, Myra. You were assigned with completing this presentation by today. How you did that is not my problem.”

Myra’s boss continued to humiliate and embarrass her in front of her colleagues. Myra had had enough. She was tired of the inhuman treatment she was getting in this company. She was very overworked, and had spent almost sleepless nights the entire week. She had made up her mind.

“I resign.” said Myra as she handed her resignation letter to her boss and walked out of the meeting room.

She whispered to herself, “All he knows is to stand and keep clicking that pen of his.”

A week after Myra had turned down Gaurav’s deal she was being interviewed for one of her company’s latest successes She had a message for the youth. “About two years back I was a person who was scared of taking risks in life, always wanted to be on the safe side. However, one day I told myself, “Just Do It”. That’s when I decided to quit my job and come up with my own company where I’d be able to work own my own terms. So, everybody Be fearless and Just Do It.”
